A good fit when
A door sensor is no use on a shop door propped open, a warehouse bay or a hallway. This sensor watches for movement instead. Someone walks into its view, up to 26 feet away, and the receiver rings.
The sensor head turns on its base, so you can aim it at the doorway and away from the street. It runs on two AAA cells or a USB cable. The receiver has 32 ringtones and five volume levels, 0 to 110 dB, and sits up to 500 feet away in open air.
Know before you buy
- It is an indoor sensor. Rain and direct sun will set it off or wear it out.
- Pets and swinging doors in its view will ring the chime too.
- It announces movement. It does not record or send anything to a phone.

I (so far) LOVE this. We got this for two cats who go in and out. They come to the back door and want to get in, but we might not know they are there. SO, they go to the window and proceed to claw at the screen. We've replaced the screen a couple of times, so this is a much better alternative!Now, once they are near the door, the chime alerts. It is easy to hear, so we open the door for the cats. No more Claude screen! Happy cats, too!I don't know how well it will fare under the eve. I don't know how long the batteries will last (also chargeable on computer, etc).What I do know is that it was VERY easy to install - maybe 5 or 10 minutes easy installation. It pivots so you can adjust the angle of the beam in many directions. It caught both cats as they came to the door.It has multiple chimes to choose from, some shorter, some longer. It will keep alerting as long as someone/something is in the beam.I will watch this and update as needed. So far, just what we needed. I think you could use this for kids or anyone else who gets out of bed when they shouldn't/Hall monitor/bed monitor, as well.
